TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. – Families with young children are invited to a series of free events at YMCA Hayo-Went-Ha camps during the month of April.

Hosted by the Great Start Collaborative of Traverse Bay in partnership with Northwest Education Services and YMCA Hayo-Went-Ha Camps, each fun-filled event features arts and crafts, free giveaways every 15 minutes, and interactive storytelling and music with Jen Strauss and Miriam Pico beginning at 10:15 a.m. A free lunch will be provided from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Local organizations and service agencies will be on site to share information about youth programming and family resources.
Admission is free and families are encouraged to donate a non-perishable food item upon arrival at the event.
Each Hayo-Went-Ha location provides a welcoming community space for families to connect, meet new friends and enjoy activities designed for young guests of all abilities. Families are eligible to enter into a raffle drawing sponsored by the YMCA for a free week of Sparks Day Camp for their child 5-10 years old.
The Great Start Family Coalition is a community of parents and caregivers dedicated to enhancing early childhood experiences. With a mission to ensure that every child has a great start in life and equitable opportunity to achieve their highest potential, the coalition meets regularly to learn from each other, raise awareness about the importance of early childhood, and provide resources and educational opportunities to families with young children. Participation is open to all.
